What Is This?

This is a surge protector for your whole house. It goes inside your electrical panel (the gray box with all the breakers) and works like a shield for everything that uses electricity in your home.

What Is a Power Surge?

A power surge is a sudden, very big jump of electricity. Think of it like a giant wave hitting a small boat. It can come from:

  • Lightning hitting near your house or the power lines
  • The power company turning power off and back on
  • Big machines in your own home, like your A/C, refrigerator or well pump, turning on and off every day

Most surges are small and you never see them. But every one of them hurts your electronics a little bit, until one day they stop working.

What Can a Surge Break?

Almost everything with a "brain" (a circuit board) inside:

  • Your A/C, heat pump and furnace (repairs often cost $500 to $2,000+)
  • Your refrigerator, washer, dryer, dishwasher and oven
  • Your TV, computer, Wi-Fi, game consoles and phone chargers
  • Your garage door opener, smart thermostat and LED lights

How Does It Protect My House?

When a surge comes into your home, this device catches the extra electricity before it reaches your things and sends it safely to the ground. Like a goalie stopping the ball before it reaches the net.

A plug-in power strip only protects the few things plugged into it. This protects every circuit in your house at the same time, including things you can't plug into a power strip, like your A/C, oven and dryer.

Why Should I Buy It?

  • It costs less than one repair. A single A/C or refrigerator repair can cost 5 to 20 times more than this protector.
  • It's required by code. Since the 2020 National Electrical Code (NEC 230.67), new homes and panel replacements need a surge protector to pass inspection. Check which code your town uses.
  • It's easy to install. It snaps into your panel just like a regular 2-pole breaker. No extra box on the wall.
  • You can see it working. A light on the front tells you it's protecting your home.

Will It Fit My Panel?

It fits Square D QO panels (look for "QO" on the label inside your panel door). It needs 2 empty spaces next to each other. It does not fit Square D Homeline or other brands.

Not sure? Send us a photo of the label inside your panel door and we'll tell you if it fits. Free.
